Many musicians went through the ranks of Colin Copeman’s, one of the regions long running ensembles. The line-up* above was printed in September 1966 by Norman 1066 Fields in his Anglettee’s column for the monthly jazz mag, Crescendo. In common with most acts of this size and longevity it went through many permutations. Band leader Colin had started out playing in the band of The Norwich Sea Cadets in 1947. The Archive first sees the band taking up residency at the Norwich Industries Club in Jan 1955 and then taking over Currently the Archives first diary entry of September 1957 see the band take over The Gala BR, residency replacing The Bob Barbour Orch and in ?? 196? He takes on the residency of the newly opened Tower BR in Great Yarmouth. One of his original ideas while in residence was to augment some of the local pop groups that played as guests (see Georgia Wood). In 1969 the band are re-christen Trevor Copeman & The Tower Band and continue as resident band into the seventies.
"I am the Vivienne who sang with Trevor Coleman in the 1960's. At one point there were 10 musicians fully active with the band. Stan jennings piano, Brian Harvey bass. Jeffrey Crampton guitar. Saxes. Barry Brown,Bobby Oliver,Ted Hook,Mike Kerrison.Trombone Ian Bell.Trumpets,Dave Buchan,Eric Burrell. And of course Trevor on drums." VK06/03/2021
