The 007’s formed in 1965 and had an average age of 15. Keen to start a group Kent and Aimes advertised for a bass player and got a call from Robinson. Originally wanting to be a guitarist he switched to bass to join the group. The most established member of the band was lead vocalist Hipperson who had previously performed with The Black Aces and had also sung Dusty Springfield's I Only Want To Be With You on Anglia TV’s, Junior Angle Club back in May 1963.
In January 1964 Jane had entered a talent contest run by the Black Angus Steak House in Great Yarmouth with the advertised prize of a record label audition. “I won,” says Jane. “But I didn’t get anything! We chased and chased but I don’t believe there ever was a prize, I was really disappointed.” Jane & The 007’s made an appearance in The NM&J Great Beat Comp but were unplaced in heat two and soon after they called it a day.
Jane continued to sing made guest appearances with The Falcons, Ye Highwaymen and The Flintstones and also did DJ spots. In 1974 she turns professional with The Trevor Copeman Orch, replacing Christine Vance. The move reunited her with Kenny Kent who was then playing bass with the group. Jane retired in 1977 and recalls, “Punk had started to come along and the music scene was changing, I couldn’t see myself with pink or green hair, let alone a safety pin through my nose; though I do still sing occasionally at events”. Robinson later joined the beat group The Hi-Jacks.
