AESOP'S FABLES

Last updated: 13-04-2021

Lead Vocals: Roger Pincott

Vocals, Bass: Rod Clark

Guitar: Colin Pincott

Drums: Bron Parker

This band came together after the demise of three East Coast outfits in quick succession, the Pincott pairing from The Bluebeats, Clark of The Moonrakers who admittedly had just returned from a brief spell in London, and to, as he put it, “Make some quick money” after being left high and dry by some big city promoter and Parker from The Strangers.

Originally advertised as the reformed and renamed Strangers, it was only Parker that had represented that band. The Fabels as they were often called made their debut in October 1964 at The Centurion PH, Caister, Nfk a venue that would play host to most of their short career. An eagerness to progress was the factor that limited the group’s lifespan, as they all quickly moved on.

In 1965 Colin Pincott was spotted while supporting popular Norwich group CBO Incorporated and once they realised their guitarist was leaving touted Colin for the job. Clark then set off again for the bright lights of London to become part of R&B act Carter Lewis & The Southerners and in July 1966 joined The Moody Blues. while Parker joined The Johnny Gillespie Band who were resident in multiple East Coast venues. Roger is next seen with The Chasers, a Romford, Essex based recording act who had just switched labels from Decca to Parlophone.

NB: We can’t work out if it was artistic licence or not? Aesop’s Fables is the usual spelling but quite often this group are seen as Aesop’s Fabels or The Fabels. Apologies if we have taken a liberty in correcting it. Damn you hipsters!
