FOUR CAPITOLS, THE

Last updated: 07-07-2015

Lead Vocals: Tony Dee Dann

Guitar: Terry Lou Paston

Bass: Dave Mortimer (2)Francis Wigley

Drums: Grenny Eddie Arnold

The Four Capitols had all previously been with The Bob Bradley Trio/Band explains ex drummer and now professional photographer Grenny Arnold. "We were doing the Dinner Dance scene, you know DJ’s and bow ties. Most of the band were older than us and we just wanted to play Rock‘n’Roll, we decided to break away and formed The Four Capitols, we got our name from Capitol records" The group covered all the greats, Jerry Lee Lewis, who’s backing band The Memphis Beats was to inspire and title a later version of the band Memphis Index. "Just like the Bob Bradley Band we were very much a ‘Pick-Up’ group, members would come and go" adds Grenny

It was hard to date the band but this picture was believed to have been featured in the Evening News around December 1963 [unconfirmed] Francis Wigley replaced Dave Mortimer on Bass and when we added Elliot Buck on piano became the Stateside Five

Sticking to naming themselves after American record labels the band became The State Side Five in [date required]
