Adopted band due to the appearance of Mike Patto McCarthy in the bands line-up in October 1967. McCarthy had started his career on the East Anglian music scene with the Watton based Fretmen. Prior to joining Timebox, McCarthy had been with Ready Steady Go competition winners Bo Street Runners who drifted into Patto's People interspersed with a brief stint with Chicago ??

The above line-up up is the later line-up of the band that McCarthy joined. The original band formed in Southport, Lancashire in October 1965 as The Take 5 despite some biographies claiming McCarthy is a founder member of the group. The band relocated to London in October 1966 and turn professional. They add American frontman Richard Henry and become Timebox, just before signing to Piccadilly Records in February 1967. The band release two singles for the label before Henry returns to the States. McCarthy and Halsey join the group at this point and the band sign to Deram Records a subsidiary of Decca Records. The band score a minor hit with their cover of The Four Seasons, Beggin in July 1968 which peaked at #38 but on their last release in October 1969, Holmes leaves the band and the remaining personal morph into the band Patto
