Bury born Ray Broome was intriguedby the new skiffle craze and withdrew 10 bob from his post office account (That’s 50p to those born after 1972) and bought his first guitar and formed The Kingfishers skiffle group
In 1961 the group transformed into The Starngers and played their first gig on 10th November 1961 at Moulton Village Hall
Some months later Heating Engineer Barry Edward Hull added a fifth dimension to the band as he joined the group as lead singer. The group then became known as Edd Barrie & The Strangers.
On 5th June 1963 the band got their break when they backed Brian Poole & The Tremeloes at a barbacue fuction in Prickwillow along with Terry & The Advengers
The group recorded one demo in [date required] 196? at Granta studio’s in Cambridge performing two original numbers
