Both Moore and Hearshaw had been in the UEA band Bloody Hell formerly known as The Panic Parade. After the Hell split Hearshaw spent a brief spell with The Farmers Boys before returning to help Moore put together Serious Drinking
The bands name came from Sounds writer Gary Bushell who wrote severall times that interviews were cut short so he could get down to some, Serious Drinking although other versions say it was one of Bushell's headlines for a Cockney Rejects interview
Despite the band folding in 1985 they continued to sporadically reform, mainly for the bigger football tournaments
