Formed between the months of June/July 1981 from the ashes of many other short lived bands, The Ordinaires, Bang Goes My Stereo, The Marauders and Bloody Hell to name a few. An early departure was ex Bloody Hell guitarist Andy Hearshaw who teamed back up with Jem Moore, also ex Bloody Hell to form Serious Drinking
The Farmers Boys performed their first gig at The Gala, Norwich on the 24th July 1981 as a trio. The Trio tours with The Higsons and releases their first single I Think I Need Help released on The Higsons, Waap label
(Old notes have the bands first gig down as 26th Sept 1981 at The Flixton Rooms with Red Star Belgrade / The 84s)
The band signed to EMI on the 13th January 1983 closely followed by their first full UK tour. It wasn't all champagne and stars from there acording to Stan in a piece from their fan magazine Griff. "We were canned off in Colchester and later we had the free copies of More Than A Dream thrown back at us while playing"
