"The Last Straw originally formed to play a one-off gig on St Patricks day in March 1987 the line-up for this was Devany, Warrens, Harper and Holder. We were then offered a residency at the Black Swan Public House aka The Mucky Duck and this lasted three years. The band evolved into a settled eight piece line-up." LH [undated]
"Tony Devaney was replaced as vocalist by Ian Hawthorn. Simon Horton joined on drums and Dawn Sanderson on violin. I joined as the bass player in 1989 and Kevin O'Connor played the accordion for a while around this time. Dawn departed sometime in the late 90s to be replaced by Jeremy Salmon on electric guitar. We disbanded in the early 2000s although did play one or two bespoke gigs in the following years. The very last gig was a one-off for Nigel and Liz's daughter's 21st in July 2012." LM 12/02/2021
