The split of popular Lynn band The Devil’s Coachmen in late 1965 made way for Rose and Wright to put together Jo’s Boys with ex Outcasts drummer Savage. The group set out to upstage the antics of The Coachmen’s over the top stage show by adding a pyrotechnic display of exploding amps with the grand finale of smashing up a gutted piano. “It made the Who’s show look remarkably tame,” smiles Rose. In 1967 a converted garage at a house in Wisbech was the setting for Hay Green Studio, where the band made their demo acetate Save The Last Dance. The group folded in 1968, with Wright joining The Insite, while Rose formed The Hallucination.
