Albert Cooper and brother-in-law Dave Keeley had previously been the backbone of The Jolly Butchers Skiffle Group. Then a chance meeting with entrapaneur Jerry Parish not only provided Albert with a new career but also a Harp player and new folk group called The Jacquards

The Jaquards were resident band at the Jaquard Club which was based at The Mischief Tavern on Fye Bridge. The group rarely appeared outside this venue.

In February 1968 and influenced by his hero Bob Dylan, Albert put together The Electric Jacquards. Despite being popular the band only made a few appearences as Albert quit the Jacuard club later that year quoting "i want a rest"

Alberts gigs during the period between The Jacquard Folk Club closing at the Mischief Tavern (October 1968) and The Jacquard venue opening (February 1971) were rather ad-hoc. The Jaquards did reappear in early 1971 with the openning of the venue but only lasted a few months before the main header for Alberts performances went under Alberts Banned or Albert Sings
