The Four Just Men were formed from members of The Limelights and The Rhythm Boys and featured the vocal talents of Thurkettle, who sang under the stage name Alan Wade. Thurkettle said the band travelled to a studio in Wolverhampton, to record his self penned track Shattered, after they had put aside a considerable amount of gig money. The group split when members left to form The Nomads, leaving Thurkettle to form The Alan Wade Set.
