The Chalfont Movement played their first gig at Lavenham Youth Centre 2nd December 1966. Other gigs included Diss Corn Exchange (supporting Marmalade), Cavern Ballroom Stowmarket, a very memorable Christmas Eve 1966 at Baths Hall Ipswich supporting Kenny Ball and The Jazzmen, Woodbridge Airbase, Teen Beat Club Woodbridge, Embassy Suite Colchester, Leys Hotel Little Clacton, Royal Albion Walton on Naze, Brightlingsea Sailing Club, Station Hotel Ipswich, Sommersham Youth Centre, Silver End Hotel Braintree, Lawford Place Manningtree, Black Notley Hospital, Nautilus Club Lowestoft, Clacton Town Hall (supporting Swinging Blue Jeans), Alnesbourne Priory, Melford Memorial Hall, Tiptree FC, Folkes Hall Dunmow, Rhodes Centre Bishops Stortford, Athenaeum Hall Bury St Edmunds, University of Essex, Cliff Pavillion Southend, Copdock Hotel Ipswich, Sudbury Town Hall, Colchester Lathe Company, California Ballroom Dunstable, Frinton Lodge Frinton on Sea.
Apart from the memorable Kenny Ball gig at Baths Hall Ipswich, the other two most memorable were winning the Radio London Beat Group competition at Rhodes Centre Bishops Stortford in July 1967...(We were pictured in the local press with DJ John Peel) and also playing Essex University 8th December 1967 supporting The Who.
In early 1968 they changed their name to The Exploding Orange
