This band was the latest in a succession of bands to feature the backbone of ex-Astrobeats, Taylor, Whitcombe and Bunton. Previously performing together in Special Offer. Bunton also recalled other short-lived acts such as Rabbit crowbarred in-between. He added “We called ourselves The BBC Gas Quintet hoping to get sued by the BBC and get some publicity. We were going to claim it stood for The Broken Biscuit Company Gas Quartet,”
Whitcombe briefly moves away from the area after this group and said “First I left to play with a couple of guys who had just left Thunderclap Newman, Jack McCullogh and Jim Avery in a band called Wild Country. I then spent a while in Liverpool playing with a guy called Paul Pilnik, a steel guitar player with Steelers Wheel before I moved back in 1969 and joined Nimbus."
NB: Outspoken celebrity Hughie Green had once described the BBC-British Broadcasting Corporation as the Broken Biscuit Company.
