[The Preachers] On hearing that Robinson played ‘a bit of piano’ landlord Peter Millership of The Crocodile PH, Nch invited him down to play in the back room. It was through these jam sessions in what was to become known as The Croc Club that The Barons were born. Performing a repertoire of classic fifties American rock ‘n’ roll tunes, they left the beat years behind. Once established Robinson was anxious to push the new band and with Millership managing, he started to book gigs outside of the club. It was at this point that the group decided a name change was in order and in February 1968 they became The Rockin’ Preachers.
