Sweet & Innocent were put together by Watson in mid 1988 after the folding of his previous band Surrender. He pulls in ex Surrender frontman Richard Fiddiment on vocals who brings in new friend Moseley on guitar. Jeff Gorbold on bass and ?? on drums. This phantom version of S&I never played live although did manage a photoshoot.

"I got friendly with Richard Fiddament, who had been in a group before with Errol, possibly Surrender! That's how I got to know Errol. He was putting a group together and asked me and Richard to go and see them one evening, they were recording some tracks at a studio near what is now Go Outdoors, Nch. I've forgotten the name of studio but a band called Rogues Gallery seemed to be connected to it somehow. I ended up playing on this recording and Errol asked me to join. Richard then went off to do his own thing. I remember Errol liking the name Damage Inc, which is a Metallica song, but we went with Sweet & Innocent after the Diamond Head song, who were big influence on Metallica. Errol knew Steve Pye, not sure where from. Errol did the recruiting, so he can probably join the rest of the dots." SM01/06/2020

Pye, Hill and Croft come in to complete the first line-up of the band and on 23rd September 1988 played their debut gig at The Shire Hall PH, Farmers Ave, Nch.
