“The Premiers were already in existence when Gerry Gilding joined. I joined in 1961 and then later we introduced Mick.” Guitarist Peter Ayers explains his introduction to the music scene whilst attending [school required] Technical High School.

Back in 1960 Mick Winterburn, Peter Ayres & Gerry Gilding were all pupils at the [school required] THS.

During 1960 & 1961 the group enjoyed summers seasons playing at the California Tavern performing to scores of holiday makers visiting the east coast. "They were all fun times back then" Peter added. The Premiers, relegation came in 1962 when the three college friends broke away and formed Great Yarmouth beat group The Statesmen
