The backbone of Heber-Hall, Beales and Murphy had been through a host of short lived band names before finishing the sixties as Motion Picture. Previously playing as Tweedies Cage lead singer Colin Lockwood had left the group but had then been enticed back. Beales said “After our second guitarist left Tweedies Cage on New Years Eve 1967 he wasn’t replaced. We continued as a four-piece under the name Motion Picture. I think our first gig was at The Rhodes Centre in Bishops Stortford, supporting The Precious Few, a band from Norwich who had recorded a version of Young Girl. Colin left again in March 1970 and we became a trio called Boomerang.”
