The News
Cold Storage
The John Selby Band
1. From Dec 1969 through Feb 1970 I worked as a rhythm/2nd lead guitarist with the News when they were in Thailand at the Red and Blue Club (Bangkok) and the Nipa Lodge (Pattaya) .. the News at that time consisted of Peter Miller (Lead Guitar & Vocals), Rob Newton (Drums & Vocals), Harvey Platt (Bass) and Luke Watson (Percussion & Vocals).
2. Later in June 1970 Rob Newton and I formed a band called Cold Storage with Steve Bolster (Bass) and Ray Moseley (Sax & Vocals) and we worked in Hawaii (Jun/Jul 1970), Japan (Aug/Nov 1970), Singapore (Dec/Jan 1970/71) and at that time Steve and Ray left and Martin Griffin (Bass) joined us and we continued to work in Thailand until Nov 1971 when we split up.
3. In April of 1972 I came to Norwich and worked with the John Selby Band at the El Piana Club (sp??) on Timberhill (if I can remember correctly) from Apr to Nov 1972 .. the band consisted of John Selby (Byles) on Keyboard & Sax, Rob Newton on Drums & Vocals, a guy named Rod (sorry I can’t remember his name) on Bass and myself on Guitar .. during this time Rob and I also recorded an album in Rob’s home studio in Tibbenham which sadly was never pressed.
