The Taunts had already formed when Terry Mansi was invited to a rehearsal at [church name required] church rooms in Gorleston, High Street. "I was trying to watch Grandstand when i got invited down to the church hall to watch my friends band rehearsing, once they were playing I messed about pretending to sing" Said Terry. "Before i knew it i'd been put forward as the singer, Roy asked if I had any equipment and I said my dad had a reel to reel recorder with a mic, and I was in."
The group all went through one 15 watt WEM amplifier and began playing intervals during the Bingo held at the Palace Cinema and also in Gorleston’s High Street on Saturdays
On 10th May 1965 the band took part in round1 of the Norwich Mercury beat contest held at the Garibaldi, Great Yarmouth. The winners of that round were the The Millionaires who were so impressed by Terry as a front man and also knowing their frontman was leaving asked Terry to become a Millionaire
