We are a band of no fixed numbers! Currently, the core consists of Carly Stevens (violin), Linda Brown (concertina), Fred Brown (guitar) and myself, David Viner (guitar/keyboards). The first three are all ex-Shufflewing. Stookey Blue arose out of the remains of Shufflewing (another folk/ceilidh band) after Shufflewing's original leader dropped out and refused to let the rest of the band retain the name (this was in 2010). The name comes from from a local delicacy - a cockle from Stiffkey, a village on the North Norfolk coast whose name is often pronounced 'Stookey' or 'Stewkey'. The cockle can have a blue tint to its colouring due to the mud in which it lives. We have regular weekly sessions on Monday evenings from 8:30pm at the Kings Arms, Hall Road to which anyone is welcome to come along and join in. [source David viner 2015]
