All girl-beat group The Roller Coasters were feeling the peaks and troughs of trying to get their pop venture off the ground in November 1963. An article on the entertainments page in the Lowestoft Journal points out that the band aged between 9 and 13 were looking to add two guitarists to complete the band's line-up in time for some charity concerts that had been arranged. Formed in late 1962 the group consisted of vocals, drums and piano with the girls pointing out that their ambition was to sign to a record label. The band were all pupils of Southolme High on Kirkley Cliff and named as Gwyneth Browne (13), Carol Soanes (11), Kay Sharman (13), Angela Soanes (9).
