Norwich born Robin Barnes was a close friend of Pete Miller. Pete had seen Robin off at the station many years earlier clutching his well admired Fender Stratocaster. Robin was at the start of his pilgrimage to find musical success in the big city. After playing with many smaller acts Robin joined the HMV signed Laurie Jay Combo, touring the country and making many TV appearances on shows such as Ready Steady Go, The 5’0 Clock Club & BBC2’s Beat Room
Robin later formed the back bone of Comic vocalist, Kenny Lynch’s backing group. In 1969 Pete invited Robin who had now relocated back in Norwich to take on the Washington residency a year later the trio disband and Roger & Robin headed off to the Far East to join Pete’s new outfit Triffiny. The trio took over from the Rob Newton Trio as house band at the Washington 400 club in May 1969
