Named after a cartoon strip that featured a one eyed cat. The band launched themselves in big style by playing their debut gig at The Kings Lynn Corn Exchange on 11th July 1964. The band had formed in February that year and rehearesed 5 nights a week, mainly at the Kings Lynn YMCA with musical guidance from Kings Lynn Sabre, Mike Stoddard and manager Sam Hurry
The group made steady progress on the Lynn Circuit and in 1965 were taken under the wing of the Atkinson Barrie entertainments, turning professional in April of that year. The first casualty of the group came at that junture when Mick Skipper was replaced by organist Kirk Duncan who had moved to the Dersingham area from Southend, giving the band an added range in a pop market, that was slowly, but soon to be dominated by the sound of the organ. The new line-up of The Moggs went into Emneth studio’s in twice in 65, to record demo’s that were intended as bait for EMI.
The path and progress of the band are lost in March 1966 when an article entitled ‘Norfolk group on Beatles trail to fame’ was published. It was clear thought at the end of 1966 that the group had split up when Chris Knights having swapped his stix for a mic surfaced fronting The Rabbit along with ex Astrobeat Stu Bunton & Ex Mode members Ced Pitcher & Colin Thurling
