Ex-pupils of King Edward VI Grammar School, BSE and Mildenhall Secondary Modern School thought it would be fun to start a skiffle group after they had left school and could afford to buy instruments. “We had all been at Brandon County Primary together,” said Colin Rogers. “We practised on the old army camp at Brandon, which comprised Nissan huts and a few brick buildings. They were all lived in after the war when housing was short. We were allowed to practise in what was an old office by the person who lived there.” The group could be found playing during the interval at the now demolished Avenue Cinema in Brandon.
