"Gordon played guitar and started jamming with Mark. I had travelled to North Devon to stay in an ashram and Gordon came after me, and while there wrote music to my words, creating songs. I moved back and the drummer, who lived in the flat above us, bought his first set of drums. Pete was in Norwich studying at the Norwich Art School. Crazy Lizard wrote it’s own material, mostly me and Gordon, and we improvised extensively, it was essentially rock much influenced by West Coast American sound. Do you know of the 3Cs (Charing Cross Centre) in Norwich City Centre? We opened the basement, first to practise and then to run gigs, involving other local bands too. We called the promotion the East Coast Explosion! We played at Watchfield Festival and at the end of Hastings Pier but then the rhythm section dispersed and that was it really, we tried but could never find replacements who could manage our songs. Gordon and I had a baby boy who is now a professional guitarist in London, and we are still together, he’s still playing in Cambridge (where we now live, he’s currently with The Cambridge Blues) and I occasionally sing with the band. Pete the drummer moved back to his hometown in Burnley and played with The Ducks, part of the Northern Explosion!!!" Source: Ruth Wyner May 2015
