The Brian Russell Showcase were literally an overnight creation and sensation. In early 1969, popular Norwich outfit The Caste were looking to leap onto the cabaret circuit. Disappointed at President records stall on a second Caste release, the group became The Brain Russell Showcase. Already holding the tag of Norwich’s premier vocal band they preceded to audition for the likes of Anglia television and appeared on ITV's About Anglia. They then opted for a record deal with Major Minor records over a guaranteed run of successive TV appearances on the now allegedly crooked talent show Opportunity Knocks and became Edentree into the Bargain. During their brief spell as The Brian Russell Showcase the group did produce two classic recordings which made it to acetate Walk Like A Man backed by an equally impressive version of The Turtles hit Eleanor
