[Terry & The Avengers] This Mildenhall based beat group formed around 1963. "When the band's original singer left, I went for the job," said Lister. "My first gig was at Lakenheath Village Hall and the first song I sang with them was The Hollies, Just One Look." The group did get some Interest from Decca records, added Lister. “We had to leave off work early and travel to London with our manager and songwriter. We had our photos done in a studio there, it was quite an experience. Unfortunately, we didn’t stay together long enough to get it released.” The outfit gained quite a following in the East of England. “We once played the NCO club at Mildenhall after a band had let them down, and it opened the door for more gigs at the base. We also had a fan club, formed by a young lady called Karen Mattison from Cambridge.” Tilbrook the band's guitarist was the group's technical guy and he recorded many live tapes of the band, including the group's last performance on the 5th of December 1964, at Mildenhall Town Hall.
