"Another Extension started when we were at Mildenhall Secondary Modern school when most of us were just 14 or so. We practised at the school after lessons for a couple of years before gigging. It was bands such as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles as well as listening to Radio Luxembourg on an old Dansette transistor radio that prompted us to form the band. I have lots of fond memories around those times. We used whatever gear we could get for as little money as possible, homemade valve amplifiers and speakers. P.A. column's made up with as many old TV speakers as we could find from the local TV shop. My first electric guitar was a Burns Sonic, I worked for two months during the school holiday to save enough money to buy it, second hand, of course, it was expensive at about £25.00. It was my pride and joy, but the action was terrible and I soon got blistered fingers. The volume controls were very scratchy so I decided to clean them with Trichloroethylene, the problem was it melted all the plastic on the scratchplate and the volume control dropped inside the guitar. Not to be beaten I took the whole guitar to bits and made a wooden scratchplate which can be seen on some of the band pictures. Our first mic stand was part of a  budgie cage stand and our first drum kit was a pouffe. Ian Manning was the first to get an Electric guitar it was a Watkins Rapier. We all followed on from there. Other memorable moments are travelling to a booking with our heads out of the window during fog with a deep river on one side of the road, no barriers. The band must never let the audience down. Telling Gren his bass amp (Vox T60) was on fire although it was still working, endlessly repairing the tape loop on the Watkins Echo machine. Clive knocking 6" nails into a lovely wooden dance floor to stop the drums from slipping and braking in a fully loaded Transit van, which didn't like to stop." TP09/10/2020
