A grade II listed building and it should be noted that a great many of the heritage venues that have survived, have only done so through being listed. The Mischief as it was simply known has been an unsung stalwart of the local music scene until recent years. During the sixties Albert and Tony Cooper took up residency in their backroom and it became the first permanent home of the Jacquard Folk Club and among its distinguished guests were Paul Simon and Ralph McTell. The venue continued to put on bands of all genres until the late nineties and although still a thriving pub today does not host live music.
