DAVID BASHAM

Last updated: 30-12-2017

Dave Basham was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland in March 1947

A brieft history by Dave: Started to play guitar at the age of 14 encouraged by my father who had been a dance band musician (Double Bass, Piano Accordian). Formed first band The Segovians with school friends in the early 1960's to play at a local youth club using a Grundig tape recorder as an amplifier! Next played with The Voodoos a Shadows type instrumental band in Felixstowe, Suffolk

Moved to London in 1963 and joined The Temeraires, a blues band formed by students at Harrow art college. Played the the London circuit including the infamous Eel Pie Island Hotel. Were persuaded to enter the Watford Sound Contest in 1964, one of it's most notable heat winners being The Zombies. This led to us being signed by Keith Fordyce (Ready Steady Go) with TV appearances and demo recordings for a major record label to follow

Moved briefly to Norwich in 1966 and helped form local soul/blues band Trayne of Thought. Then back to London for the 1970's. Finally returning to Norwich in 1980 to play with The Liza Wolf Band.
