October 1967 was the start of an identity crisis for The Sullivan James band. Having acquired [names required] & [name required] from the now de-funked Champagne Set. The group set out as Charles ’n’ Baby Cake and the Too Much Band but this didn’t seem to roll off the tongue or go down well with promoters who often shortened to the ‘Too Much Band’ or promoters would simply put The Sullivan James Band knowing that the response would be good
