Glazebrook broke away from Ipswich’s The Unit 4 in 1964 to form The Epics. Lingard had been with the Felixstowe Vapour Trails, and Coe had been playing on the local jazz scene. The group lasted about a year before Coe moved on to Les Blues. The remaining members continued as a trio but under the name The Clique.
NB: The popular use of the band name ‘The Epics’ has made it hard to define the group’s actual timeline and gig dates.
