[The Amalgamation with Samantha Dee] The Amalgamation were a halfway house for many established musicians who had found themselves in limbo after various plans and bands had fallen through. The Influence was on the verge of calling it a day as vocalist Russell had been tipped to replace Derek Driver of local band Kiss; Driver had announced his retirement and Russell had made a few guest appearances with them to test the water, but a last-minute change of heart saw Driver remain by which time The Influence had gone.

Meanwhile rumours that the brass section of the disband Feel For Soul, Revell and Green were about to join The Mood saw them teamed up with the remains of The Influence, bringing with them The Mood’s lead vocalist Sam Guest and her brother to complete The Amalgamation.

Drummer Wilkinson takes up the story, “The group never pushed itself, we would rehearse more than we would gig; Sam’s parents had moved here from the Midlands and had a big barn out at Colby, near Aylsham where we practised. Within months Brian had been offered a job with The Caste and that was the end of The Amalgamation.” Wilkinson took a rest from the scene after this but emerged in the early seventies in the cabaret orientated Chris Stewart Set, which had been formed by Green and long time friend and ex Feel For Soul guitarist Stewart Fuller. Revell was next seen in the new avant-garde outfit Universal Tongue Bath. The Guest siblings reappeared in April 1969 with Domingo's Fair.
