Guitarist Wright and vocalist Medler first played in school band Lemon Soul before forming The Aftermath.

In October 1968 an article by journalist Clement Court picked up on the band when reporting on the talent harboured by the Lowestoft Post Office, as both Drew and Roberts worked there. The article stated that their ambition was to become professional musicians and to chart with a record. He also mentions Tom Hammond lead singer of the local band The Hobos, another Post Office employee. Wright is next seen playing for The Morrells.
